Renewable Energy: Biomass Projects

Turning Wood and Waste into Energy NIFES is active in investigating commercial applications for biomass boilers. Using knowledge from our participation in European projects, we explore the practical realities of heating buildings with biomass fuels. NIFES is working to promote the development of the wood-fuel marketplace with:

• Fuel supply studies
• Technology advice literature
• Feasibility studies
• Building project partnerships

We have a strong track record in the engineering of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) capital projects. Now NIFES detailed studies of biomass CHP are helping clients plan their climate change strategies in a business context. This relates to ROC generation, Emissions trading and compliance with the Large Combustion Plant Directive, Climate Change Agreements, and IPPC obligations.

But our expertise does not stop there: It extends to Energy from Waste (EfW) plants. NIFES' proven experience with Refuse Derived Fuels is again in demand for the new generation of EfW plants. This is being stimulated by the partial renewable status of waste, for the purposes of ROC eligibility.
