Our comprehensive training courses are made doubly effective when supported by our professionally written literature. NIFES has written numerous texts and guides on energy management including:

“Boiler Operators Handbook”

NIFES have been delivering training courses on Boiler House Management since 1954. In 1959 NIFES wrote the book “Boiler Operators Handbook” which has been through many editions and revisions and is still in print. NIFES uses this book as a standard reference on all boiler training courses including ‘Boiler House Management’ 2 day courses delivered regularly by NIFES.

“Energy Management” (IChemE)

In 1997 NIFES wrote the training package titled “Energy Management” for the Institution of Chemical Engineers. It consists of a training manual, train the trainers notes, 200 slides and a video also produced by NIFES.

“Energy Management in Buildings” (IEMA)

NIFES were commissioned by The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) to write an 86 page book called “Energy Management in Buildings” which was published in October 2003 (ISSN 1473-849X). Price £15. The project was managed by Building Research Establishment (BRE) and funded by Action Energy. The contents are:

“Energy Audits and Surveys” (CIBSE)

NIFES were the authors of the CIBSE Applications Manual AM5 “Energy Audits and Surveys” which has recently been incorporated as Chapter 18 in CIBSE Guide F “Energy Efficiency in Buildings” (2004) ISBN 1 903287 340.

NIFES have written a number of publications for the former Energy Efficiency Best Practice and Action Energy Programmes and The Carbon Trust. These included:

Energy Consumption Guide

NIFES researched and wrote ECON 75 “Energy Use in MoD establishments” which involved gathering energy data from Ministry of Defence sites for a range of different buildings and creating energy benchmarks. This document is a standard reference in energy management in the Ministry of Defence.
