PROJECT BACKGROUND
NIFES was asked to investigate the feasibility of replacing four existing 150kW air-cooled water chillers that served the Ramsgate Road Wing at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, Margate.
The chillers used the banned R22 refrigerant and were too small for the hospital’s future needs.
OUR APPROACH
Our feasibility study showed that it was possible to replace and four chillers, add three new 200kW chillers in a new compound, and reconfigure the pipework and controls without disrupting the hospital’s essential operations.
NIFES carried out the detailed design and successfully managed the installation of this (n+1) resilient and efficient 1.2MW chiller farm, all with modern hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant.
SUMMARY
Project Results
NIFES had a critical role in conceiving and managing the phasing of the works to ensure continued chilled water service to numerous AHU cooling coils and the new CT Scanner Suite.
The client was extremely pleased with innovative design and the efficient management of this £825,000 project.
”Really pleased with NIFES. Keep up the good work.
