PROJECT BACKGROUND
At their residential outdoor centre, in Seamill on the North Ayrshire coast, this Christian charitable organisation were having to rely on expensive and unreliable, oil-fired heating.
OUR APPROACH
NIFES faced the challenge of a tight budget and the desire for a reliable, efficient, low operating cost system to meet the needs of the Centre and its visitors.
The final design and installation combined a wood pellet fuelled biomass boiler backed up with small gas fired boilers, for use in extreme conditions and for servicing and maintenance periods.
The existing plant room, gas and electrical supplies and the local Distribution systems were all upgraded. The heating and hot water controls were modernised and the existing oil tanks removed to make room for a pellet store.
SUMMARY
Project Results
In addition to the reduced fuel costs, this installation qualifies the site for Renewable Heat Incentive that helps keep running costs down. This project was completed on budget and with minimal disruption to the Centre and will provide them with a reliable, low cost source of heating and hot water.
”I have been very happy to have you (NIFES) design, plan, oversee and run this project. You were always there if there was a problem and so far we are happy with the installation. I think we have at least cut our heat cost in half and that is without the RHI. We have a much warmer building too; with our old system we tried to save on cost and it was much colder inside. Now we can walk around in t-shirts. I am really happy that we hired a consultant for the project and very happy with what you did for us. Thank you very much.
