A very small increase in boilerhouse performance can significantly affect the overall site running costs. With this in mind, NIFES offer a unique comprehensive service to maximise the efficiency of boiler plant.
NIFES visit the site and survey the boilerhouse, looking at the potential for energy conservation techniques and general safety issues.
The study comments on the following:
Burner equipment and controls – improve combustion efficiency
Oxygen trim equipment – improve combustion efficiency
Insulation of steam distribution system
Condensate and flash steam recovery
More efficient Water treatment plant
Lower cost chemicals
Continuous automatic blowdown with waste heat recovery
Combustion air preheat
Investment in up-to-date/automatic systems
The potential for CHP
Reduce Dynamic Operation
Revision of maintenance procedures
Revision of operating procedures – update/rewrite
Combustion Flue Gas Analysis
In order to establish the efficiency of the boilers, NIFES carry out flue gas analysis on each boiler. Any discrepancy from expected efficiencies are then commented on.
In addition to the energy efficiency review, NIFES can also carry out an Operational Safety Review.
Operational Safety Review
A review can be carried out on the plant to ensure that the owner’s responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act etc. 1974 and the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 are being met. This normally includes a review of the following recommendations arising from the above legislation provided by SAFed:
