HTM 05-02 Firecode Surveys

NIFES Consulting Group has worked with a large number of healthcare providers to conduct fire safety analysis of premises to ensure their compliance with NHS Firecode specifications, in particular Health Technical Memorandum 05-02 and 05-03.

What is NHS Firecode

NHS Firecode is a suite of guidance, provided through a number of Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs), specifically covering fire safety in Healthcare premises. It considers management, functional requirements, and operational provisions.

The guidance recognises the interaction between physical fire precautions, the dependency of patients, the fire hazards within the healthcare premises, the management policies and the availability of sufficiently and adequate trained staff in achieving an acceptable level of fire safety within healthcare premises.

The purpose of conducting a Firecode survey is to carry out an audit of all fire management policies and procedures, and their interaction with relative fire safety precautions present within NHS Trust buildings.

This will ensure a robust management system is in place and provide related deficiencies and recommendations that will have an overall impact on the fire safety across the trust ensuring that a suitable level of fire safety is being provided and delivered.

NIFES have extensive expertise and experience in carrying out these independent Firecode surveys and audits of NHS Trusts and Private Healthcare.

What is NHS Firecode

Firstly, a desktop study of the fire safety documentation, with the assistance relevant members of staff, will be carried out. A visual inspection of the premises including random spot checks will then be conducted.

The fire code audit and survey carried out by NIFES will provide assurances that the level of compliance with the objectives of Firecode and a detailed understanding of fire safety management required to support the functional fire safety design is in place.
